The Casual Thrifter Part 1

Shirt: Thrifted, Track Pants: F21, Shoes: Asos, Sunglasses: H&M

Another favorite thrifty find... this shirt goes exceptionally well with something grey and easy... So I wore it twice, with long grey sweats and with short grey sweats! Grey, grey sweaty grey! After my last two weeks of finger bling and necklaces, I've taken to wearing only one piece... my statement Bvulgari mens watch... So heavy one arm is now longer than the other- see above!!! Makes picking up those pesky fallen items a doddle!!! Actually... I live in these sweats in the mornings... (tracksuit bottoms if you are in fact British like me!) I thought I should incorporate them into my blog in a slightly more dressed way, as walking the dog doesn't usually entail a shirt and heels, oh no- More like a big old grey hoodie from Uni, and bed hair! I look like an escaped criminal most mornings in my grey get up! So hot! For that reason, and because a certain somebody, ahem, Karl Lagerfield declared that wearing sweatpants is a sign of defeat... Not sure I agree entirely... I could totally blow your mind Mr L and flip that statement over so hard with a Goldsmiths style intellectual paper  simply entitled "The role of semantics in "god damn" fashion".
I feel a lazy sunday essay calling! erm... kinda. I miss being clever.

I tell you something... My most delightfully twirl-able skirts have all hailed from the murky depths of my secret Hong Kong thrift shop! I ought to take a picture of my pile (yep- pile, I'm not neat remember) of brightly colored, perfectly pleated, fall-just-where-you-want-them-to thrift shop skirts... They are pretty god damn beautiful! I imagine... if I were to carry them all across a busy road in some sort of flimsy box-type-thing... and I was tragically hit (not that tragically... I'm just being dramatic for the sake of the story okay!!! Touching wood as I type- does Wicker bed count as wood?! yes.) by... lets say a... tram (they go nice and slow!) said skirts would all go flying up in the air, **WOOOSH** colors frantically bursting, polka dots, chiffon, silks all in sweet discomposure, desperate to make their escape... Let us imagine the Hermes scarf scene in The Devil Wears Prada... Minus the foregoing of Paris fashion week and a week in Hospital!!! Let's just say actually that I tripped up... like the escalator incident... whats a few more bruises?!!! Next post... "How to Sport a Black Eye"!!! xx

A Thrifty Threeway...

Iv'e had this eye-poppingly bright fuchsia pink skirt *WITH some frikin' brilliant POCKETS* rotting silently in my wardrobe since a big summer thrift back in August (for a minute there it thought it had been  lovingly rescued from the musky depths of a Mong Kok thirft store, err WRONG- Sorry, pardon!!!)... I've been meaning to whip it out for some time... show it the light of the Hong Kong day n' all... and I too have had this "Who Wore It Best" photo on my laptop since ermmm Octoberish... Now, TMR = the most essential read, a must for all who like to stir up the repell on a daily...of course... However, a bit of a scary prospect when you decide you definitely need that thing she is wearing in order to breathe... yet, rather shockingly when you check where it came from, breathing is not something that happens for a few minutes- at least!
I thought I'd do a cheap-ass thrifty version... consisting of a 10 dollar (1 Euro) skirt, Zara tee, Berskha leather jacket (sale!) and a bit more Zara (zapatos!) aaaaand a vintage temple to topper it off!
Whatduthink?! Close?! More leg perhaps?!

Game Called Life

           Don't Youtube always pick THE SEXIEST CAPTIONS!?!! No... no they do not!

Yeah, yeah I know... WORST VIDEO EVER! However, I've been trying to put this darn song up for you guys for ever! I had a nice black and white version where you could actually see me playing, and I was wearing clothes AND MY HAT and ya know, being all songbird! BUT, after a million attempts at uploading it, it refused, and so I had to give in to photobooth recording and the fact that I don't have a beautiful shiny grand piano here in Hong Kong! (Last recording was at mums- where pianos and instruments are a plenty!)
I am wearing however, my new all time fave EVER 80's thrifted jumper, which totally reminds me of the Sonia Rykiel jumpers which I die for! Might have to make a retro Disco Pony jumper very soon!!!
Hope you guys like my wailing... This song is "Game Called Life" by the Leftover Cuties. It's the intro to one of my all time favorite (I say all time fave A LOT- but I mean it!) shows called The Big C... If you havent tuned into that, I highhhhly recommend you do! This isn't the entire version of the song... I have to wait until I have a grand piano and some good lighting to make that for y'all! Orrrr in fact a stage and band a la the real version! And a super cool dress to shimmy about in and look all 20's!

Song details: I used garage band to record this, and my macbook air. I just used the built in mic that it comes with, most surprised it didn't crack... every other song I try to sing using this technique seems to crack! Perhaps I have blown the speakers already! I usually record with a separate mic.
I used "Live performance" as a recording choice so it doesn't sound like I am in a stuffy room, however I turned off ambience and echo... incase you are interested!

p.s How could I forget... If you are liking the fact that now my blog looks more like a blog, and less like (I) a technically inept dorkball threw it together, well that's because THIS fine lady hacked into it from Sweden last night (permission granted of course) and made the magic happen, alll night long! It was a good Saturday night if you ask me! THANK YOU ANNIKA, you ROCK MY WORLD!

The Thrifters Back!

Please do your best to ignore my veins/ sock tan lines and look at the shoes!!! It's hot okay, and I've taken to hiking with trainers and socks before work!!!

Okay, so I'm cheating a little... This outfit is in fact made up of only one piece of thrited goodness... however, I am completely in love with this skirt! Talk about pleats please! Agh, it's perfection... Complete pleat perfection! P!
I'm still not actually able to wear this outfit in erm, real life situations, as it is in fact about as hot as a pre- heated oven ready to roast/crisp a turkey, but a girl can dream right! I can just see myself wandering down some ultra grimy-chic street in the meat packing district in NYC in much, much cooler climates, feeling all flowy and rockstar with the touch of leather and my blue striped loafers!
 I love that you guys can't tell that I am in fact sweltering my balls off in my shoots! It's lucky too... coz it's not a pretty site once it's all over I tell you!!!
Sigh... so looking forward to wearing clothes again! I went on a much needed thrift store rampage the other day looking for a random special piece to wear to an event we were at last night... Needless to say I didn't find anything (for that event!) but I certainly stocked up on staple pieces for fall... Polka dot shirts, Midi skirts in hot, hot pink, A PADDINGTON BEAR DUFFLE COAT- eeep too excited to wear that! and other such goodies! I also picked up these shoes in my fave shoe boutique in the city. They always have one off designer pieces at sure low prices... so I snapped them up. The Prada loafers were one size too small, and not even I, miss one size too small IS FINE could cope! :( Oh well, I love the unusual sports luxe-ness of these shoes! The leather is super soft too!
I'm so thank ful to all of the AMAZING comments that were left by you guys about the "Wrong Kind Of Acne" post... I will be writing up part two very soon! Thank you for sharing your stories too, it's so good to know that I might be able to help even a tiny bit... I hope so anyway!
