The Thrifting Series! Part One!

Flower Print Shirt: Thrifted Vintage (HK), White Silk Skirt: Thrifted Vintage (HK), Red Gold Detail Belt: Vintage Le Swing, Barcelona, Wooden Platforms, Random HK Boutique, Hat: Vintage, Lips Maybelline 24 Hour Super Stay! (This never comes off!!!)
This outfit made it into Chictopia's Style Gallery!

HAPPY SATURDAY happy campers!!! So... I have finalllly begun the "Thrifted Series!" As I mentioned in my last post, I stumbled across an amaaaaaaaaazinggggg vintage thrift store off the beaten track in Hong Kong... So, now EVERYTHING I shall be wearing, shall be this! I managed to put about 20 or so looks together, and none of them have cost me more than 30 Euros in total... Including shoes... of which are about 80% of that cost! Amazing right! AMAZING! (I say amazing too much!) I'm just outrageously excited about this! I have always been insanely green eyed over the life of a LA fashionista... all those thrift stores, and for so cheap! It's pretty hard to find that kind of cheapness and amazingness in London and Europe really... Granted there are hundreds of incredible vintage stores, especially around my old stomping grounds of Brick Lane and Shoreditch... BUUUTTTTT, they are soo expensive, and everyman and his dog are already fishing out the good pieces at like 4am, so by the time I was up, there was nout left for Zoey!!!
It was so funny when I dragged my massive heap of finds into the office, the boys were like "This looks like something my mum would wear!!!" I had to explain that this is completely chic in Europe!!!
Anyway, previous LA thirift store strop well and truly over, now you can all be stroppy at me and my insanely large wardrobe full of beautiful things!!! ;)
I had a great time walking home from work last night, I love getting a little bit lost in Hong Kong, just because it's so safe, I don't feel any threat, and you see so many interesting things!... the worst thing that can happen over here is people looking at the ""Gwailo" wondering around in some random, smelly backstreet full of crabs and make shift nodle bars! (Gwailo is the Chinese term for white devil by the way! But is used the same way as "Giri" is in Spain... basically tourist... but slightly more racist!!!)
It's neaarrrly time for China... I was supposed to venture up on Friday, but I still had so many last minute things to get done... Now I am ready, and excited for Monday... And nervous, very nervous as I'm not certain on who my tailor will be! Never mind, got to just go for it now! I'm so so excited to show you the collection! Right... Onto the next outfit! I must pack in the photo shoots while I have my photographer... highly hungover photographer today!!! Hasn't he done an impressive job considering though!!!
I hope you are having a gorgeous, relaxing Saturday... My updates will be more regular now, what with all my finds I MUST show you! I hope it can inspire you to go out and rummage the stores nobody wants to go into! You never know what you will find! xx

Hi Helen!
I wrote it underneath the first photo along with all my clothes etc. It's Maybelline 24 hour super stay in Red Passion number 510. This stuff is crazy, you can literally sleep in it and it wont budge... however, it leaves a weird outline when you attempt to remove it, and can majorly dry out your lips!
Thanks for the lovely comments guys :) You all rock! xx

I'm so envious of your fabulous thrift finds in Hong Kong! You look absolutely amazing in these photos- something about you reminds me a little bit of Francoise Hardy :) I had no idea Hong Kong was such a great place to shop for vintage; in Canada the selections are quite limited and really great finds come at a high cost. Like you, I've always envied LA girls for the wealth of cheap vintage stores that surround them. I just adore your blouse, and I can't wait to see your other finds. I found your blog via Rebecca of See you in Sweden, and it's fabulous!

I'm so envious an have nothing but respect for you: turning your life upside down like that to pursue your dreams...really, respect sister ( in a less lame way!)

I wish your collection were available yet...I am IN LOVE with that gold sequin dress and my school prom is at the end of June, but alas! But still, I HAVE to own that dress, it's breathtaking!

Lots of love, Lies

Good luck in China! All the best :)
Your outfit looks lovely on you! It's a great choice for the recent weather we've been having!
Which store holds the treasure troves? ;)

You might be interested to know that the term "Gweilo" is actually being discouraged at the moment because of it's racial connotations. However, the term "sai yun" is being encouraged for its replacement due to its more neutral translation of European. Of course, "sai yun" is also a Chinese pun, in that the term "useless stupid idiot" in Chinese happens to sound a lot like it. So really, the not-so-bad becomes quite bad.
Don't worry though; we local Anglo-saxons often wear "Gweilo" with pride so it's not a big deal. :)
Apologies for the mini sociology lesson by the way, just thought you might find it interesting since even not many "Gweilo" know that. :)

P.S. Thank you soo much for the fabulous comment!! It was really heart-warming, and I'll definitely check up on the lipstick asap. :)
