A Warm Welcome Back To Disco Pony!

Beautiful article by Silvia of Lasseiz Moi
Considering Disco Pony is STILL yet to actually be launched, and smooshed and groomed into the Shiny Pony it longs to be... I am completely blown away by all the support you wonderful, amazing, inspiring people are giving it! It's so touching that you are enjoying my crackerjack attempts at showcasing the bits and pieces I can, what with being a one woman show and what-not!... What what...pip pip!
I am so truly excited to be getting to the point in the next couple of months where things are REALLY up and running... to give you a place to actually go and see it all! I'm excited too to be sharing with you my amazing new PR company. It's a wonderful feeling to know that I am not going to be trotting away into the sunset all on my lonesome for the rest of my Disco Pony adventure! That there is a wonderful visionary out there willing to get involved and take on Mr Pony himself with me fills me with hope and great bouts of RELIEF!!!
I have to admit, getting myself back to Hong Kong and up on the Pony to face the music has provided me with a fair share of the fear... If I had known quite how much work, time, sweat and energy making a business like this work on ones own involved... Well, I would totally have passed out at the mere thought basically! Complete denial of what it takes to set up a business is preferable when starting... "Just saying"!
Luckily I have a very supportive bunch of people willing me on, and you guys are certainly a huuuuge part of that! So, Thank you! Very much!
I arrived back in Hong Kong after a much needed respite in the UK about hmmmm, 10 hours ago! I managed to prize my eyes open for the last 7 hours of the flight (despite being transferred onto an almost empty one after a fully packed out first half- drooooooling at the empty row of seats beckoning me toward them!) When I finally arrived home some 28 hours after I started the journey Albert greeted me with a beautifully barbied up steak (mmmmmmmm), and pushed my jaws together to help me chew it up before I passed out... I even got in a few hours sleep before the alarm went off urging me to GET IN TO WORK!
So... Here I am! And here is a wonderful little article written by a very gorgeous Portugese reader Silvia of the blog Laissez Moi. If you don't happen to read Portugese, well it basically says I am amazing!!! HAHA I kid, I kid! She says many wonderful things of the Disco... my favorite part being her total understanding of the lack of accessories in the shoots! The kid totally gets it! Woo! I'm rather loving the Disco Balls in the middle of the collage! One day I shall have my very own Disco store decked out with 9-5 Disco, Sparkly Roller Skates to skate around on picking out your finds and bazillions of Disco Mirror Balls... EVERYWHERE! Hmmm... overkill perhaps?... we shall see!!!
Happy Monday lovely things! I'm back now... so all things Disco are back to normal!
Any enquiries or orders please don't hesitate to email me @ zoeycrystyna@gmail.com xx

Erm FINALLY!!!! I actually managed to get dressed! This is a feat you probably cannot understand my triumph over, but trust me, in this heat... wearing heels and clothes and make up... pretty painful! But today, TODAY folks, I did it, and it felt....SOOOO GOOD!!! I've sincerely missed wearing heels and feeling like my legs go on and on as opposed to dramatically stopping 6 inches in advance of their destination! Oh sad face, on the subject of heels... I realised last night that a whole load of lovely things were swiped from my suitcase on the way back from Barcelona... including my favorite black peep toes... the ones I wear ALL THE TIME :( Photobucket SO SAD...  my heart sinks every time I think of it... Along with some of my hats too... gah, the person looting my bag sure knew how to hit my sore spots!!! Boo! Anyway, worse things happen, so I shall shoosh about this now and discuss the classic shorts 'n shirt combo... my staple uniform for when I actually have to get dressed! I am so completely adoring over sized shirts at the moment... I have designed a bunch for Disco Pony, all in crepe silks for that extra softness and layering potential, so excited to see them... and wear them!!!
I found a proper model for Disco Pony last night! Oh yes! Rather looking forward to getting her in some pieces... I know she will rock them out to the max! :)
Currently getting ready for morning dim sum on the beach with friends, after one of the most delicious, never ending meat fest's of a BBQ last night... woah, I'm not sure I can take any more food... but I will! Yes, yes... I will find a way!!!!
Hope you are all well, and are enjoying your weekends to the fullest :) xx

Longing to Don My Old Winter Uniform!

Wearing: Tights: House of Holland, Wedges: Aldo, Dress: TopShop, Leather Jacket: Berskha, Fedora: Vintage

Wearing: Jeans: H&M, Chelsea Peep Toes: H&M, Shirt: Zara, Oversized Cardi: Gift, Leather Jacket: Berskha, Hat: Zara
Kind of a creepy shot right!... but my nostalgia over rides the creepy by waaay far (said in true Clueless Cher style)!!!
Wearing: Booties: Steve Madden,  High Tops: Zara, Leather Shredded Jacket: ASOS, Belt: Vintage- Le Swing, Hat: Zara

Should I start with another "Recycled apology"? Nope... I'm not gonna! I felt the need for a nostalgic filler again, so here.it.is!
Oh how I miss wearing actual clothes... ones that you can layer on top of each other... oh sweet, sweet time when the thought of wearing clothes was joyful, not petrifying!!! Ahh, to waltz outside and feel the fresh, crisp breeze of Autumn. These moments feel like a dream to me right now, whilst I sit here in my home office, braving a momentary minute of no air-con (because I am too lazy to get up and turn it on right now- it's the heat I swear!) Granted, today has been rather wondrous, as I actually had a day off... Disco Pony was sleeping most of the day in fact, so I turned my attention to exploring the stunning jungle around me with Scoobs, drooling over the effortless cool of Charlotte Gainsbourg, and trying SO hard to finish a song I have been working on for what feels like ever (gah, I just can't get it perfect!). I have to say, when I'm not trekking into the city to go to work, and thus am sans make up and slightly appropriate clothing (not that I am ever really wearing even slightly appropriate office wear!) life out in the jungle seems much more bearable! Rather awesome in fact! No waiting in the blazing sun for 20 minutes whilst your make up sweats off, praying for the cool relief of the air con mini bus! Clearly, this isn't a lasting delight, but I will take what I can get and enjoy it to the max!
I can't stop thinking about the new pieces in the collection... wishing for the perfect location and the perfect model to shoot it all in!
I was writing up a small interview today about Disco Pony- one of the questions was "Which celebrity would you love to dress" which totoally started me off on a Charlotte Gainsbourg stalk fest. Gah, she is just so cool. I have a friend from uni who I WISH was here to model for me... she is so Charlotte Gainsbourg! Oh Sophie... I neeeed you!!!
This also got me thinking about perceptions of beauty, and how utterly depressing it is to get too caught up with "perfection". I always feel so much more excited about fashion and clothes and life in general when I surround myself with inspirational images of non conventional beauties- There really is nothing more beautiful than confidence. A hard thing to achieve when we are so surrounded by convention.
okay...so I have just spent the past 30 minutes trying to get a link I can use to post of Miss Gainsbourg, alas, it worketh not... it's too hot to fight it! Hope your well gorgeous ones! I'm looking forward to shooting some posts out on the streets, in civilisation at some point... maybe in some new Disco Pony pieces when they arrive! Eeep! :) xx

The world looks like a different place today... Having been submerged in an ocean of stress and anxiety for the past week, I have finally got done what I needed to get done! My passport now has a dozen more stamps on it AND... I have a NEW TAILOR! She is wonderful! My life has been made so much better... I can breathe again! Phewwww!
It's a good thing I wondered into the lions den of starting up a business so naively! Had I of known the true extent of what I'd be facing on a daily basis, I would have run, run, ruuunnnnn a billion miles! Luckily something as small seeming as changing my tailor has made the world seem suddenly a lot more awesome!!!
I can't tell you how excited I am to see the new pieces of the collection in real life soon! I haven't had the entire update done as I am testing out this new tailor... I know she will be amazing... but it's always wise to practice a little caution in this business! Once I see her work... I am getting the rest done asaps!!!
I thought today was going to be one of the most exhausting days of my Disco Pony life so far... but in fact the most annoying thing that happened was being picked out of a million people to have my bags checked at security! I smiled a bit too much at the security dog... they must have thought I was smiling at him for not barking whilst I got away with carrying thousands of dollars worth of cocaine through or something!!! haha! No, instead it was just piles of Disco Pony designs and fabric samples!

These pics were from a VERY humid morning of unsuccessful shooting... I really like the silhouette though... I thought I'd share! :)
Hope you are all getting along just fine... no, much better than fine! May some of my relief of todays events be with you calming you!!!

Magic Hour...

Playsuit: Asos, Fedora: Vintage, Wedges: Asos (ASOS moment!!!)

There is a certain type of light that Barcelona has... just that perfect soft light that doesn't make you look deathly/scary/totally unsightly kind of thing! Not all the time, obviously... there was literally bazillions of shoots where the light was completely off, but the ratio, I feel was slightly better of good to bad than here in Hong Kong! HOWEVER... It is a process this whole light finding malarky... it takes time and practice, and lots of "UGH WHAT? I LOOK LIKE THAT!?!" moments!!!
I seem to be posting a looot of oldies at the moment, but I think it's just a figuring out good shooting hours thing! It will pass! We were just playing up on the roof, and the light seemed completely, utterly, deliciously wonderful... and when pointed at the stunning scenery all around, it truly was! Then it got to me!! HAHAHA! Oh deary me- have I not slept in weeks?!!!!
Today has been a magical day of playing on the most beautiful beach with friends and our dogs... we literally only found it today... right in our village! I can't get over how stunning this place is... it's paradise!
Tomorrow we shoot some Disco-Pony-outside beach shots... Up very, very early to try and catch a good light! Let's see if that works! Hopefully they come out well, and you get to see this crazy beautiful place I live in now!

Hair Cut...

I have a love hate relationship with hair cuts! My "Ombre" has been rapidly destroying my hair to the point of slight depression (hair DRAMA!) and despite my many attempts at slowly snipping away at all the split ends... then dying it all darker... it's still been begging for a dramatic 6" chop! So... I just hacked it off! It felt rather wonderful for a while... but thennnn it started to bug me being all "shortish" and whatnot! It'l grow, it'l grow, it'l grow mantra on repeat!!! haha, okay, i'm just kidding here peeps... I'm not so fussed... kind of, okay, I am a bit... but it's too hot to care right now!!!
This has been a completelyyy crazyballs day! We finally have our puppy home with us in Hong Kong... after a maaad expedition to find him in a warehouse in the middle of nowhere (superterminal my ass!) Poor little thing, imagine flying thousands of miles, having no idea where you are... stuck in the bottom of a plane, then coming out into a place you have no smell recognition of, and your parents nowhere to be seen for hours (after the 2 week absence!) TRAUMATIC MUCH! I've never heard him howl so loudly as when he saw us from his crate... Awwww, it broke my heart! His little nose was all scratched up from pushing it through the bars... However, he is now home, all snuggled up... having been for a jungle exploration and eaten en entire packet of peanut butter dog biscuits from the village dog bakery!
I'm not reaaaly sure whats going on with my make shift modeling at the moment... it seems I am having a very make shift moment, and not getting on with the camera at all... however, as Albert kindly pointed out at my distaste for the past few shoots... I have in fact been really ill for the past few days, with some sort of stomach flu... And after the ridonkulously long day we had on top of this... I was excused for my eweness, by Albert at least!!! Thanks baby!!! :)
I hope you are all well... I promise to be more "on it" blogging wise this week... It's much harder than I imagined now with the hours we are working, and the hours of light we have!

Hot Stepping it Home for the Last Bit of Light!

Bum accentuation courtesy of Pink Ruffle Jumpsuit: Maple HK, Black Fedora: Vintage (The new old one!) Hot Pink Wedges: Topshop
Surfing lesson?!!
The spectacular view from our roof terrace! Not a bad way to wake up I must say! Not that I wake up on the roof! Much!!!

Is this not the most stunning view ever?! YES, YES IT IS!!! ;) I've been feeling the blogger guilt for all the Disco Pony posting and lack of actual outfit posting... Sooo, I managed to make the big eyes at Albert and we hot footed it the hour and a half back to the jungle from the city in time for sunset! By the last bus leg of our journey (there are two trains, and two busses for this journey- not quite as bad as it sounds, HK has got it sorted when it comes to transportation!) we had to split up, due to lack of space on the bus! So I mentally willed the driver to put his foot on it so I could get home and somehow hold onto the light until Albert found a bus!!! We did it though!
This jumpsuit is not really the sort of thing I would go for... ever really... howwwwevvvverrrrrr, the colour makes me crazy, its so dusty and pink! Aaaannnnddd, it kind of reminded me of something Clemence Poesy would wear... it's the ruffles I feel. I felt it needed to be manified up a bit with the hat... I would have gone all out with black mens boots, but 90% of my shoe collection is now... somewhere in Barcelona! So I grabbed my trusty hot pinks, the clash for me is liberating! I love clashhhhy clash clash clashing! Yeah babyyy!!!
I'm not very good at not posting things as soon as I have done them... I will wait a little bit... maybe five seconds, then hit publish!!! haha! Impatience... bloggers virtue!
Lots and lots of disco love bunnies :) xx

The Mighty Jungle

Gold Sequin Turban: Disco Pony, Black Maxi Dress: Asos
New Header? You like?! See how skinny I've made myself!!! hahaha! Disco Pony is in there too!

WOAH BALLS!... No wonder models have to be sooo super duper owchie manawchie skinny beans, I mean, it's beyond depressing sometimes quite how physically warped the camera can make a poor girl look, despite being, urm, not so warped at all! Once that little clicker goes off and captures you inside its contraption... BAM, you have been transported into another body- one you honestly did not see in the mirror just moments before! (Or maybe I'm just delusional- probably!) It just makes so much sense why already wafer thin girls feel the need to starve themselves for the camera... just so one can look semi normal sized! It's madness I tell you, madness!
So, whilst I am moaning about looking so huge in all my photos, I am ermmm, scoffing down a bag of Marks and Sparks belgian chocolate raisins (Having M&S food in Hong Kong completely and utterly satisfies my Britishness- it's the BEST!), MMMMMMMMMM nom, nom, nommm.... It's a vicious circle!!! I'm not very good at the starving thing... I should really hop skip it upstairs to the gym that landlord so kindly left for us instead! Ermmm.... no, I think I will just stay here, eating my chocolates and watching Real Time!
Despite the slightly "Oh god, all these photos are hideous" feelings I had apres this shoot, I thought I really must show you some of this unbelievably gorgeous jungle we have found ourselves living in... so I fished out the least "warped" photos I could, so as not to offend/shock you!!! I've been living in maxi and midi dresses forever recently (forever recently... ???!!!) contradiction much- oops!?! I love the completely cut out back of this dress... keeps me cool! I really wanted to wear my Disco Pony Gold Turban, despite it being far too hot! I thought it would give a nice pop to the long lengths of black I have going on. This turban is a must for Hong Kong really... It's so humid ones hair goes all kinds of mad here... I suspect the winter would be a far more appropriate time to wear it here, but what can I say... I'm not appropriate, at all, ever!
I have to say the past couple of days have been pretty hideous sadly... I've been trying to adapt and get over my relentless jetlag, and it's all been rather painful! I think I'm finally out of the worst of it now... and should be up and running again tomorrow!!! Fingers crossed! Thanks for your lovely comments on the last post, I woke up to them this morning, and felt a lot better! You guysssss, <3 you!
I hope your all well, and it's sunny wherever you might be!
Love and loveeee xx

Hello Hong Kong, Goodbye Wardrobe!

I take FULL responsibility for these shots... which is why they are erm, chrazie weird 'n full of black shadows blocking half the lens!!!
TopShop Silk shorts... I swear I spent a good year of my life thinking one of my legs was fatter than the other one when I got these... Now I'm always handling fabrics and cuts and designing... I see that this was in fact a hideously made pair of shorts with one leg 2 inches smaller than the other!!! Oh the complex they gave me!

Oh wardrobe... How full you were of so much stuff! How musty and vintage you smelled when I got back from Hong Kong, what joy and pain you brought me whilst I tried to create you!!! Oh wardrobe... you are no more :(
That was my wardrobe poem. This was my attempt at documenting its demise. Before it had, erm been demised!!! (Agh, now all I can think about it my poor Grammar/ incorrect word choices! Thanks Chops!)
We though perhaps we would keep our little flat in Barcelona... But thennnn we realised that we aren't billionaires! haha! Whoops! So, this meant all those treacherous hours I spent up a ladder listening to Shakira on repeat, scraping the wet paint off the walls that just completely refused to stick to its ancient crumbliness, then re painting it, and then doing it all over again... and thennnn sticking magazine clippings all over it, and hats, and other things was all in vain! (well... kind of, I did in fact have my haven of stuff up and running for a good few months before I had to say goodbye!) Now, despite my horrible photography skills (who knew how much hard work taking pictures is with one of those view finder things!!!) you can ALMOST make out my little vintage hideout! I did actually take a photo of the floor, which was just a big old heap of more stuff... clothes, shoes, things and magazines... but I cant for the life of me locate it! Honestly... I was entirely willing to show you the REAL ME! Aka, the filthiest girl alive!!! The truth will out at some point! There is nothing neat about me! If that song by Gabriella Climi went "Nothing's NEAT about me" I would sing it for you... Wait... now I'm reading that, it sounds like nothings neat about me... well, it says that... but I meant it in the messy neat kinda way... I'm totally neat as a person! Swear! I am in a slight state of unknown... perhaps joy, freedom, and probably some sorrow at the lack of the above clutter/ clothing/ footwear I now own! I did in fact give 90% of my possessions away... Of course, had I of known about our perma-move well in advance, I would have given it all to you... I assure you it's all gone to good, happy homes however. The next country I move to... I promise you... first picks are yours!!! xx

Oblivious Style Icon!

Sooo, I was just mid HELLO HONG KONG post, and got a little distracted by a slightly old "personal message" on Chictopia...
I have been made a Style Icon! (I hope this is still valid!!! haha, I've not seen my emails for a while now- Is there a timer on accepting your Iconic status?!!!) If not... Then, WOWZIES! What an honor... like, total honor! Chictopia has from day one been such a lovely and supportive place to upload styles onto... I've never once had a bad or negative comment on there, only lovely, positive things... So it ranks pretty high in my books! Thank you Chictopia for this wonderful title! :) What a great way to start my Hong Kong day! (But boyyy, am I tired!!!) I woke up at 3am, verrry Jetlagged (Quick side note: A friend has just informed me he can't read my blog due to the poor grammar... hmmm, now I'm rethinking my weirrrd elooongateddd worrrrds! I would write normally, but I don't speak like that... I like you to hear the ups and downs and stresses on the words just as I think them- it's so much more personal this way- no?!!!) but despite my not knowing what planet I was on, I was rather happy about where I had landed! Right in the middle of the Jungle, overlooking the sea, with the mountains on my back! Perfect Feng shui that is! I'm currently at my desk in the city... desperately trying to keep my eyes open and come up with the next Disco Pony line! So much love bunnies, I hope you are well... anyone else suffering with the old Jetlag legs?! xx

My Hat & I!

Dear Hat,
I love you and I would be naked without you! Thank you for sitting on my head so much and making everything look cooler!!! xx
HAT UPDATE! I gave my hat AWAY folks!!! That's love right there!!! I miss him, but I know he is on the head of an equally loving owner!!! Annnndddd, I do indeed have another one... who's fame is imminent!!!

There should really be one billion photos more in this little homage to my hat! But, these are the ones that I am able to access from my computer right this second! You get the picture, if you hadn't already!!!
Wowzies, the thunder on the Costa Brava right now is insanity! I wonder where I will be when I post this?! (England!!!)  I hate the way the photo quality is so bad when I make little boxes like this! It completely changed the colours for the Disco Pony collection... most annoying!
I am about to jump on a lonnnnng haul flight to Hong Kong now... after the WORST nights sleep... I woke up sweltering hot and tried VERY hard to open the windows (they had some sort of child lock on that I found IMPOSSIBLE to function.... hmmmm, what is this saying about me?!!)... only to induce a mahhjor panic attack, of which I tried to resolve by using my favorite Reiss vest top (at that particular point on my being as pj's!) to absorb the frustrated sweat my hands were producing... ANYWAY, It got caught in the stupid lock and ripped! Good times!!! Sooo, wish me luck! I'm going to look HAWT DIGGADY when I land! NOT! ;)
Hope your all well babies!
Love and loveeeee xx

The Thrifting Series

Well, that title is actually not true at all... because as you know, being fellow bloggers, there are literally tens of thousands of un-used, sad, lonely pictures that never get seen... either because one feels the old legs looked waaaay too fat in that one, or the eyes were shut, or the lighting made you look like you were dead, or whatnot (you know what I'm talking about!)... just the usual reasons we don't show off the bad ones! (I do frequently feel guilty for contributing to the media ideal that bad face/hair/body/ everything days don't really exist- I assure you if you were to see my "bad pile" you would all die of laughter! One day, when I'm old and brave enough, I will post them up!) However, they arn't all bad, some unfortunate ones just don't make it due to there being too many... or in this case, due to being candid! Which don't get me wrong, is not a bad thing at all... I LOVE candid shots, they are the best... but when you feel like you have a bunch of perfectly fine snaps that make up your usual amount per post, then the candid ones get kind of forgotten... :(
Seeing as I am yet to survive a whole week longer without my sweetheart, his camera and his undeniable skills I have succumbed to "mining the archives" (oh creepy, this was a title for my first ever essay at university!- we all failed from being too literal after going to the library and "mining the archives!" haha!) But I was quite surprised to see so many piccies that seem perfectly fine to me now... At the time I deemed them truly hideous. there is something about seeing a photo of yourself right after it has been taken that makes (me at least) want to book a month at some kind of "retreat" where you come out looking "better" I think they call this place LA?!!!
It's nice looking back over your efforts aswell... sometimes it feels as if I'm not doing enough... but when I look back, it seems I did in fact prance about quite a bit... in the same pair of shoes for the most part it seems! Despite my bath tub full of them!?! I'm mad... a creature of habit clearly!!!
Before this becomes an essay "Mining the Archives" style... I wanted to add that I am now back in Barcelona... My flight was delayed by about 3 times the flight time, but well worth it! I got home and kissed everything I could see in my house... I even picked up the dog mat and gave it a good sniff!... I'm not sure how wise that was... but I've REALLY missed my dog! We are still not re united, I've decided to let him play up in the country side for a week longer, and pick him up when Albert gets back... This way we can be the heroic parents... He totally thinks we have abandoned him. Poor Scoobs! How are you all? I hope your all having a lovely summer wherever you are... Where are you?! :) xx
